Our verdict
A traditional gas or push mower costs far less upfront ($200-500), needs no setup, and cuts on demand - but it means weekly labor, noise, fuel or charging, and clipping cleanup. A robot mower like the Husqvarna Automower 430X costs much more (~$2,500) and takes hours of boundary-wire setup, but then cuts a little every day on its own, mulching clippings and keeping the lawn consistently healthy with near-zero effort. Robots shine on medium-to-large or awkward lawns where weekly mowing is a chore, and they run quietly enough for daily use. For a small flat lawn, or if you enjoy mowing, a traditional mower is the more sensible spend.
